Where have I been?
Sorry I have been away for a while. I have caught a bad cold that reminds me a lot of the flu, but I had my flu shot, so I'm not sure what is going on. I am on the mend and have been busy pinning on Pinterest while I've been sick, so I have some easy pins to start out with while I regain my strength. Keep in mind I am also 6 months pregnant at the same time. I promise to make it up to my readers by attacking a few pins a day to get caught up. Now to finish making up my work hours I missed while I was sick. When I get that all caught up I will be back to my normal Pinterest testing schedule. Remember if there is a pin you come across that you want me to try out before you do, send me the pin on Pinterest and I will add it to my list of things to try. :-)

Day 3 Satin Hands Recipe and more organization stuff
(This post was actually for January 3rd but I didn't get it posted until today.)
Today was a great day especially from the fiasco of the previous day. Although I did notice that when I took my shower today my face was still soft but it was still hot from irritation of that face peel. If you didn't read the post about the face peel please read my blog entry for January 2nd.
Today I decided to bravely try another homemade beauty product recipe, but I did proceed with caution and picked something I knew wouldn't be painful. It was the Hand Scrub - kind of like Mary Kay's Satin Hands pin found here. It seems really simple. Just two ingredients. I used to sell Mary Kay cosmetics many years ago and this was a product that was one of my favorites. But it was about $34 for the whole set. This recipe only cost me about $3 for the ingredients and you don't even use a lot of it, so basically $3 could be enough for several batches of this.
I mixed the ingredients together like the directions said and it was about the right consistency of the satin hands formula. However I was still skeptical of if it would work as well.
I must say it is pretty close to the same experience I had using Mary Kay's product. I was rather impressed by this so I bagged up the rest. (I didn't have a jar like the pin suggested, so I used a Ziploc bag.) However there are some ways to improve on this. Either by adding it to the recipe or adding it on your hands when you do this. One thing would be Vaseline. Mary Kay uses some kind of waxy stuff for their satin hands formula, but it felt a lot like Vaseline. In fact, this was actually the first step of the satin hands application. Then you would add the scrub with soap which this pin had both combined. Personally, when I used satin hands I combined all three steps in one and had the same result as I did doing them separately, so I just kept that routine to save time. Then the last step of satin hands is a simple hand lotion, so I would follow this recipe from the pin with hand lotion and then you have the satin hands perfect at a fraction of the cost. This is definitely a pin worth keeping handy. I loved it!! :-)
Now back to the 52 week organized house challenge. Today I had to make a to-do list that will work for me. The creator of this challenge posted on Facebook to make a list of 7 but make the first 3 items top priorities. I thought this was good because a lot of times I make to-do lists that are really long and get mad that I never get it all done. But giving yourself the advantage of only having to focus on 3 things made it a lot easier. I did take a page from the Flylady and used a sheet protector with a piece of notebook paper in it so I have lines to make my writing straight. I used a dry erase marker to write in my list that way I can just wipe off items from the previous day and start new each day without wasting paper all the time. I then attached this to my photo board I have on my desk. The fabric that crisscrosses holds my dry erase marker perfectly, so I won't lose it. I'm definitely liking this pin. It gets you organized a little at a time without overwhelming you. So today was a win-win. Yay!!

Day 2 decluttering confusion and funny face mask experience
We'll day two began with some slight confusion which got resolved thanks to the creator of the home storage solutions 101 on Facebook. Today's task simply said to create the binder for household notebook. I was quite confused after looking all through the site and no finding anything that explained what all needed to be done to create this binder. As soon as the post on the Facebook page found Here I posted a comment asking what all the binder entails.
I got a great response from the creator saying: "Home Storage Solutions 101 Hey everyone, don't worry and overcomplicate this. I obviously need to do a bit more explanation of this notebook, and hopefully will be able to in the very near future up on the site. But until then know that basically the idea is just to get ready for all the organization printables you'll be receiving as you participate in the challenges. These printables can help you get organized, and a binder, notebook, whatever, is a nice handy place to place them all. If you want a sneak peak at some of the printables you'll be receiving you can check them out here: http://www.home-storage-solutions-101.com/how-to-get..."
This led me to realize I can use my old control journal I had from the flylady. If you are not familiar with the flylady you can view her page Here I had moved and got divorced so some of the information was old anyway, so I just cleaned out the old stuff and now I'm ready.
The second adventure was a funny and painful one. I decided to do a pin on a face mask peel to remove black heads and acne. I must say that it did succeed in that, but not without a lot of pain! The pin I'm referring to is the serious face mask peel pin found Here
It seemed simple enough. Just 2 ingredients so it couldn't be that bad. In fact my daughter was bored so we decided to do the face peel together. This was a blessing and a curse. So we mixed the ingredients together, heated it up in the microwave, and then applied the mixture to our faces. When we were done we looked pretty weird.
We then began the waiting game. This was actually the fun part because as it hardened it became hard to talk so we were just texting each other back and forth. Our faces felt like they were made of plastic by the time it had all dried. So then began the task of peeling the mask. Now the post says it is "somewhat painful," but I would say the pain was excruciating!!
In fact after only peeling a little off I told my daughter to just wash it off instead of subjecting herself to the torture of it all. I, on the other hand, didn't have that luxury as I was determined to see this through if anything as a public service against this pin.
After many screams, funny faces, and tears, I got it off. So what did I think? This is not a pin I would recommend, but if you do decide to try it please listen to these tips. #1 do NOT put this on your neck. That is what I did and that was by far the most painful to peel the mask from. #2 avoid the eyebrow area. If you don't then expect to lose some eyebrow hairs. #3 make sure your hair is completely pulled back and won't fall in your face during the application process. This stuff hardens fast and is hard to get out of hair so expect to lose some hair if this happens.
Warning: this mask is bad on sensitive skin and your face will be red after removing the mask.
I did not see much come off on the mask when I peeled it off except for hair. My daughter said she got quite a bit to come off on her mask. She also had some tips to not make the pain so bad but still get great results. To remove the mask, start to peel it off dry. Once started wet your face with very warm water, but don't burn your face. Apply a face soap of your choice and let it soak in about 30 seconds. Then remove the soap and the mask by rubbing your face with a warm wet washcloth. Repeat these steps again only rub with a cold wash cloth the second time. Last, apply a face moisturizer. This helps remove the sting of removal.
I did her steps after I had removed most of my mask dry. It even helped calm down my face when I did these steps to complete the process. All in all I would not recommend this pin to anyone. It did leave our faces feeling really soft, but I personally think there are other less painful ways to achieve the same result. Don't do it!

Day 1 goals and home decluttering pin started
New Year's Day means reflecting on the past and looking to the future. For me 2013 came with mixed emotions. Some things I loved and other moments are best left in the past. I thought about making a New Year's resolution, but wanted something fun and unique. After thinking about it a while I went to my pinterest site. There I found lots of procrastination: recipes I wanted to try, decorating ideas for the house to do, even Christmas ideas that I didn't get to, even though Christmas just past. In fact, you could say I am the queen of pinning and forgetting. Well not anymore. My New Year's resolution is to finally do all those things I pinned on my pinterest site. You can view and follow me at www.pinterest.com/fullofhope30.
So where to start? I went to my Pinterest page and instantly saw easy things to start with, but also had the realization that this endeavor is going to cost money. So then I decided to look at things like home organization to start with. There isn't a lot of expense involved with most of it, and I recently moved in with my fiancée and he always says I need to make the house more homey. So starting by organizing the house seems like the best way to get started. So I went to my "for the home - organizing/decluttering" board and found the "52 week challenge to organize your whole house. Perfect New Years resolution" pin which is found http://pinterest.com/pin/54254370482556801/
This at first seemed overwhelming and I thought, "Great! I will spend my whole year on one pin." Then I realized it is just a bunch of little tasks and weekly decluttering area, so I think I can do that, and do some other pins simultaneously. I then realized I need to set some rules for myself, so I don't go crazy doing this resolution.
Rule 1: I am not restricting this to just things I have pinned now. If I'm having a rough day and want a quick recipe or something to try that is new. I am giving myself the grace to be able to do that, but I promise that will not be the norm. This also leaves me open to accepting any pins sent to me by family, friends, or other readers of this blog. This will make this journey more interactive for all of us. I will be your guinea pig if you want me to be.
Rule 2: I am not limiting myself to doing one pin a day. This means two things. First, if I need a few days off I can do that and not ruin my resolution. But again this won't be the norm. Second, it means on some days I may want to try more than one pin in a day. I think this will be more of the case when I'm on maternity leave in a few more months and will have plenty of time on my hands.
Rule 3: I get to pick the pins I want to try. This means I will probably cherry pick the easy ones at first, but eventually I will have to try the more complex stuff.
So far that is all the rules. So what did I do today? I went to the 52 weeks to organizing your home pin and signed up for the newsletter which gives you a link to activate the account. Then It gives you a link to find the printable calendar of tasks to do to declutter your home. There are little 15 minute tasks a day and then one area to do more focused decluttering a week. So today it just had me set up my goals for the year which to me is to complete this resolution I started which I have mapped out here, so the bonus activity is complete. The next task was to set up a donation and selling area in your house. I used a thirty-one utility bin that has two sections to achieve this. One side is labeled "for sale" and the other side is labeled "donations.
I also looked over some other pins I want to try and stopped by Walmart to pick up some of the supplies I needed. There will be more to come on those though. All in all I would say things are looking good for this resolution and I'm having some fun with this already.
