Today was a great day especially from the fiasco of the previous day. Although I did notice that when I took my shower today my face was still soft but it was still hot from irritation of that face peel. If you didn't read the post about the face peel please read my blog entry for January 2nd.
Today I decided to bravely try another homemade beauty product recipe, but I did proceed with caution and picked something I knew wouldn't be painful. It was the Hand Scrub - kind of like Mary Kay's Satin Hands pin found here. It seems really simple. Just two ingredients. I used to sell Mary Kay cosmetics many years ago and this was a product that was one of my favorites. But it was about $34 for the whole set. This recipe only cost me about $3 for the ingredients and you don't even use a lot of it, so basically $3 could be enough for several batches of this.
I mixed the ingredients together like the directions said and it was about the right consistency of the satin hands formula. However I was still skeptical of if it would work as well.
I must say it is pretty close to the same experience I had using Mary Kay's product. I was rather impressed by this so I bagged up the rest. (I didn't have a jar like the pin suggested, so I used a Ziploc bag.) However there are some ways to improve on this. Either by adding it to the recipe or adding it on your hands when you do this. One thing would be Vaseline. Mary Kay uses some kind of waxy stuff for their satin hands formula, but it felt a lot like Vaseline. In fact, this was actually the first step of the satin hands application. Then you would add the scrub with soap which this pin had both combined. Personally, when I used satin hands I combined all three steps in one and had the same result as I did doing them separately, so I just kept that routine to save time. Then the last step of satin hands is a simple hand lotion, so I would follow this recipe from the pin with hand lotion and then you have the satin hands perfect at a fraction of the cost. This is definitely a pin worth keeping handy. I loved it!! :-)
